I have found several things on the web worth mentioning here….Such as various charities, organizations and sites that are exceptionally needed and do such fine work. I’ll add more as I discover them :
# http://www.nafcclinics.org/ @NAFC on Twitter. The National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics…They help thousands of people and can always use donations as well as volunteers.
# http://cabby.me.uk/ @SHOUTwithCAABS & @SHOUTwithTABBY on Twitter….A worldwide campaign to help children with an Anti-Bully system. They need help spreading the word and getting petitions signed to get government and more school systems on-board.
# http://www.veteranshelp.com/ & http://veteransnetwork.net/directory.php
A wide varity of help for our Vets…We all need to step up and help our Veterans. Through donations….jobs…..words of encouragement and praise for the sacrifices that they and their families have made for us.
# http://justcoz.org/helpspreadthis @helpspreadthis (on Twitter) Helps promote the fact that there is a need to keep the fight against #ChildAbuse out there in the open. Donate a tweet a day….keep the conversation going.
# http://t.co/QQoLbFnq An awesome group called “Speak to Children” has a video… please watch it…and follow it’s founder Melanie C. Jones on Twitter @Speaktochildren There is never enough time…effort… or knowledge when it comes to the children of our world. Step up ! Find ways to be a positive part !
Sites that I learn from and enjoy:
# http://www.nlbm.com/s/index.cfm Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City,MO….It honors the rich history of African American Baseball. It is a private funded non-profit organization which allows you to become a member and I am proud to be one. Please check out the site even if you’re not a big baseball fan this Museum pays homage to a history that is too important not to be explored. Follow @nlbmprez the museum president, Bob Kendrick tweets us such awesome tidbits of information about the museum and trivia on the history of the NLB players. Hashtag #BUCK100 (standing for Buck O’Neil’s 100th birthday) is another cool thread to follow.
# http://www.dailykos.com/ “The Daily Kos” a somewhat progressive news community with quite a few awesome citizen journalists as well as journalists, commentators, and politicians from around our Nation. I have lost faith in the lame-stream media and this site have given me alot of insight to current events and problems.
# http://takeactionnews.com/ Take Action News with David Shuster A progressive talk radio show that is still young but growing fast. Found on We Act Radio on WPWC 1480AM, based out of Washington,DC… it is three hours of information heaven (Saturdays 12-3). Not only explaining what the heck our Representatives are doing & why but what we can do as well. Bringing back “People Power” started growing in the Occupy movement and this show gives us ideas & knowledge to keep the power moving in our direction. Check out their Facebook page…follow them on Twitter. If you have a question or comment they are great about responding. It’s cool to be at the begining of a new show and to be a part of it.
